Governor Hickenlooper Kicks-off 2015 Biennial of the Americas Celebrations on July 14th Press Conference
WHAT:             From July 14 – 19, 2015, the Biennial of the Americas will host an international festival of ideas, art and culture featuring art exhibitions and performances by international artists, panel discussions showcasing leaders from throughout the Americas, the Biennial Pavilion (1550 Wewatta St.) and free afternoon and evening festivals. Media will be briefed on all upcoming Biennial events for the week of celebrations, notable international speakers, free public festivals, and community-wide arts and cultural celebrations.Media can pick up their press credentials at the kick-off press conference for the week’s media events and will allow media an all-access pass to the Biennial’s exciting events, including:
·       9:30 AM on Tuesday, July 14, Press Preview of Now? Now!: Members of the press will get a first hand look at the Biennial’s central exhibition, Now? Now! at MCA Denver before it opens to the public (this will take place prior to the press conference, time listed below).
·       11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 14, Biennial Press Conference at 1550 Wewatta 
·       Additional events on Tuesday, July 14 include:
o   Now? Now! Art Exhibition Opening at MCA Denver: The central exhibition of the 2015 Biennial of the Americas, will create a surprising, dynamic experience, capturing the atmosphere of life in the Western Hemisphere today.
o   Implant: Marcela Armas at Commons Park: Implant is a public installation in downtown Denver and Mexico City by Marcela Armas.
o   Vis-á-vis: Biennial Ambassadors Residency Exhibition at McNichols:Exhibition featuring work created during the Biennial Ambassadors residencies in Denver and Mexico City.
o   Generation NOW!: New Leadership for a New World at Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver Performing Arts Complex: TheGeneration NOW! symposia explores how evolving technologies and a new generation of innovators are disrupting and reinventing business, civic and social life and creating a new world of possibilities.
o   Biennial Opening Night Street Party and Celebration at Biennial Pavilion: The Biennial of the Americas presents a vibrant evening street festival featuring music by Flobots and Making Movies and the opening of the exhibition Oíd el Sueño de una Palabra / Listen to the Dream of a Word, a project by de_sitio in collaboration with Museo Comunitario del Valle de Xico and Colectivo Xico Arte.

                        11:00 a.m. – Press conference at Biennial Pavilion
                        8:00 p.m. – Opening Night Street Party
