2015 Biennial of the Americas since 2010 Raising Consciousness
About the Biennial
The Biennial of the Americas History
Since 2010, the Biennial of the Americas has engaged tens of thousands of participants in roundtable workshops, groundbreaking symposia, and artistic practice.
Established by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper when he was Mayor of Denver, along with leaders in the arts and business in the city, the organization is hosting its third biennial festival in 2015, following 2010 and 2013 editions.
The 2013 festival convened 300 speakers from 21 countries for explorations of the issues that consume us, and cultural activities celebrating the ties that unite us. In 2014, the Biennial launched its interim year travel program with the 2014 Mexico City Summit, a bi-lateral gathering of US and Mexican leaders in the areas of education and energy policy.
Connecting the Americas and working on solutions to shared challenges
The north-south axis is a critical nexus of business and social import, yet one that receives little attention. Our goal is to bring together the most innovative leaders from across the Western Hemisphere for activities and events intended to accelerate and transform how we do business and live together.
The Biennial was created to recognize and build upon the important economic and cultural ties in the Americas. We face societal issues that are similar, and working together on solutions is the first step. The issues or challenges may arise at a local level, but our success can be measured by our ability to help our audiences identify, understand and address these challenges for multiple groups of people across our northern and southern borders.
